Weigh in Week 3!

Here I am 3 Weeks into my diet and I have managed to stay on track!  This week I have lost 2lb and my weight loss total for the diet is now 5 lbs!  My BMI has gone from a 27 to a 26.  It nice to see results, but I think any woman on a diet would have wanted to lose more weight.

My motivation for next week will be to lose 3 lbs instead of 2.  The past few weeks I was very good on the diet but still allowed myself some cheats (Monday was Valentine’s Day I wasn't not going to eat chocolate!).  This week I am going to try very hard to stay on track and not get derailed by going out with my husband and friends.  I also have not done much cardio at all.  I'm sure if I just did a little 3 or 4 times a week that would also help.

Anyone have any fun winter workouts they recommend? I will be happy when the weather warms up and I can go back to walking my 2 miles a day.

Check out some suggestions from Fab Fit Fun for low cal cocktails.

Make your own mixers: A standard sweet and sour mix is practically all sugar and can run up to 200 calories. Kim suggests tossing the bottle and whipping up your own: mix 2 parts lime juice, 2 parts lemon juice, and 3 parts agave nectar. You’ll get vitamins from the fresh juices and Agave has 20% fewer calories than the sugary syrup typically found in mixers.
Go for the bubbly: Trade your wine for champagne and you’ll save about 15 calories a serving. To make it seasonal, Kim suggests adding 3/4 oz of Aperol – it’s deep red and delish with bubbly.
Go Fresh: Kim suggests winterizing your cocktails with seasonal produce and spices. Cherries and oranges are great right now, and muddled herbs add flavor with zero calories!
Substitute: Instead of using heavy cream in eggnog, use Almond Vanilla Milk – it has about 1/10th of the calories. And instead of sugar, try Stevia, Splenda, agave, or Monin syrup.
Try a Light Spiced Cosmo: You’ll need 2 oz orange vodka, 4 lime quarters, a dash of cinnamon, 1 oz sugar-free Monin syrup, and 1 oz light cranberry juice. Muddle the lime quarters with the ground cinnamon, syrup and cran. Add the vodka. Top with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled martini glass. 140 calories.

Weigh in Week 2

As everyone in WI knows the Packers won the Super Bowl!  This has been a crazy week of celebrating on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday...... and so on.  This has not been a great week for my diet.  We were at parties on Sunday and ate out on Wednesday so I guess I should not be too discouraged by this week’s weigh in.

Week 2 I did not gain any weigh, but I also did not lose any weight either. I simply maintained what I lost last week.  This has slightly discouraged me, but has also made me realize that next week I have to double up my efforts to stay on track.  I did not do any cardio this week and will have to start that up again next week.

I guess my saying for this week is if it was easy to be thin then everyone would be! I will try hard not to beat myself up and work harder to lose more lbs next week.

Recipe of the week- Italian chicken 7pts
Take 10 saltine crackers and crunch them up. Add Garlic Salt and garlic powder to crackers.
Take boneless skinless chicken and dip in no fat Italian dressing, next put in cracker crumbs and shake
Bake chicken for 25 minutes at 400 degrees
I put the chicken on top of whole wheat pasta and a veggie tomatoes sauce

Diet Day 5- It's going to be a LONG Weekend!

Today was my weigh in day and I'm happy to report that I have lost 3lbs this week on my diet! I consider this huge success since this was a short week!! My goal for next week will still be 2lbs. If I lose more that's great, if I only stay on track that's great too.

This is a very long weekend for me. Friday night I have to help hubs at one of the restaurants that he does marketing for Zaffiros Pizza! Tonight they kick off their new delivery service in the Mequon area by delivering Pizzas in Limos!! If you live in Mequon and would like me to delivery your pizzas in a limo please call (262) 241-8484 they will be delivering Pizzas from 5:30-8:30.So tonight I will be eating a personal thin crust veggie pizza with light cheese! Yum a nice treat.

Sunday is the Super Bowl! I'm a huge Packer fan and cannot be any happier, that is unless we WIN!! I have 2 Parties to go to hubs work party and hubs family party. We are bringing a healthy snack to the family party, but I must make it through the work party first. I have been joking that the family party is a BYOB the last B not meaning beer but Baby! Everyone is pregnant or nursing or a new mom at this party except for me so there should be some other healthy foods and no alcohol at this one!

Recipe of the day: Super Bowl Popcorn BAR!! 2 cups =1 point!

You will need an air popcorn popper, bag of popcorn, and few popcorn toppings. We are using Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning and Butter Spray. The spray has 0 points and helps the seasoning stay on the popcorn. We will have a selection of seasonings: Ranch, White Cheddar, Carmel, Jalapeno and a few others. The seasonings are very low calorie and you don't need much!

Diet Day 4- If the Shoe Fits!

As most of you know I work full time from home for a software company where I do new user training and product testing. I love my job and love being able to work from home. My close friends and family know I'm also a board certified Pedorthist. I worked as a C.Ped in the shoe industry for over 10 years of my life.

What is a C.Ped you ask? Well I am training to help people with foot pain find proper shoes or make custom orthotics and help with other foot aliments. I though today I would use my old knowledge share my list of favorite shoes. Always go a get a professional to fit any athletic shoe. This will help with comfort and make them more wearable. Not all shoes are for all people.

Where to buy good shoes?

Diet Day 3- Let It Snow!

Happy to say I was able to stick to my plan again yesterday!  Hubs is also doing well on the plan but he chooses to eat most of his points at night, where I like to spread them out throughout the day. This is kind of hard on me when he has more night time snacks. We had fun last night making up some Mock-tails during the blizzard of 2011. We did burn a ton of calories today hand shoveling ourselves out of the driveway!  I hope the next snow day is a ways off!

Today's Plan

Breakfast-4PTs Sandwich

Lunch- 6PTs WW meal

3pm Snack 2 PTs

Dinner 6PTs

4 Free PTs

Recipe of the Day:  Mock Long Island Ice Tea 0 PTs

Mock-tail- I believe that it's not what you drink but the presentation in which the drink is present.  I like to put my Mock-tails in festive glasses that make what you’re drinking more fun!

8 oz of lemon lime seltzer water
4 oz of Diet Snapple Peach Tea
1 oz diet coke
Add Ice and straw!

Diet Day 1

It’s officially the start of my new Diet!  I'm so excited to start losing the LBS!  My plan for the first week is to be super tough and follow my plan.  I want my first week weigh in to reflect some real weight loss.  The first biggest change I am making is drinking more water and flush out my system.

Lunch-  WW meal - 6pts
3pm Snack- 3/4 cup lucky charms 2pts
5:30 pm snack- Apple 0pts

2 Slices WW bread 1pt, 1 slice fat free cheese 1pt, 2 slices deli ham 2 points.  I like to toast the bread and add yellow mustard. Microwave for 10 seconds to melt cheese. I find this very filling and helps to get me to lunch.   Look for bread where the calories are for 2 slices not 1!

First Weigh In!

As everyone knows last week I was at Disneyland eating lot's of bad food!  Day 1 We ate at Rain Forest Cafe for lunch and Split the huge appetizer platter and a grilled chicken sandwich.  Day 2 we split a huge Nacho platter and Tacos.  Day three we ordered Pizza from Dominoes after a long day at the park.  Plus all the other Disney goodies like the pic above.

So I was a bit nervous to get on the scale today.  But too my surprise I had not gained any weight at all!! I guess all the walking back and forth to park from our hotel paid off!   I'm still starting my diet Monday, but I will be doing my weigh ins on Fridays.  I have started to stock up on my favorite LaCroix waters and will be shopping this weekend for diet friendly food.

I will be enjoying my last pre-diet meal at the Mineshaft in Hartford.  That will be the last time I have my favorite FRIES in 18 weeks.  This diet will be hard work and take a lot of will power but I can see myself wear my cute skinny jeans and laying out at the beach in my bikini that I bought 3 years ago and have never worn.  In the end it will all be worth it!
